The McNulty Foundation is pleased to welcome Darren Walker, President of the Ford Foundation, to the McNulty Prize jury.

Mr. Walker will join former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright, international development expert Brizio Biondi-Morra and Ugandan diplomat Olara Otunnu. Together, they will select the 10th annual Winner of the McNulty Prize. Former McNulty Prize juries have included Mary Robinson, Bill Gates, Sr. and Sir Richard Branson, among others.

Darren Walker currently heads the Ford Foundation, the nation’s second largest philanthropy, and the McNulty Foundation will tap his unique perspective and decades of expertise as a jury member for the McNulty Prize.

Mr. Walker’s pioneering leadership is a reflection of what we seek to celebrate and galvanize through the McNulty Prize. We look forward to working with him and the rest of our jury to inspire and elevate transformative leadership examples around the globe.” — Anne Welsh McNulty

Mr. Walker has dedicated his career to advancing economic justice, a role model for Prize Laureates seeking solutions to the challenges of our time. Mr. Walker led the committee that helped bring a resolution to Detroit’s historic bankruptcy. Before joining Ford, he managed the Rebuilding New Orleans initiative after Hurricane Katrina as Vice President at the Rockefeller Foundation. In the 1990s, following a decade-long career in international law and finance, Darren oversaw a comprehensive revitalization program of central Harlem as COO of Harlem’s largest community development organization, the Abyssinian Development Corporation. Mr. Walker serves on the boards of Carnegie Hall, New York City Ballet, the High Line, the Arcus Foundation and PepsiCo.

The John P. McNulty Prize celebrates the boldness and impact of individuals using their exceptional leadership abilities, entrepreneurial spirit and private sector talents to address the world’s toughest challenges. The annual $100,000 prize is awarded to honor the visionary work of Fellows of the Aspen Global Leadership Network; each Laureate receives $10,000. Laureates will be announced in July at the Resnick Aspen Action Forum, and the winner will be announced in November in New York City.
