Update Your AGLN Profile With New Enhanced Fields

Published

We’re excited to introduce two new enhanced fields on your AGLN profile. Reflective of the wants and needs of the network these two new fields, “Collaboration Information” and “Venture Information”, give other Fellows will see context on your prior work, topics you’d like to connect on, and some venture information if you choose to share it. For a thorough tutorial on how to update these settings, watch the video above.

How to Update Your Connection Information:

  1. Click “Edit Connection and Venture Info” under your profile photo, or click on “Edit My Profile” in the top navigation menu. Either, will take you to this new page of drop down menus.

  1. Click the “Connection Information” drop down menu.

  • These fields help give other Fellows context around, your expertise, what you would like to connect on, what not to approach you about, and the best way to keep or get in contact.

  1. Fill out the following fields:

  • Ask Me About

  • Industry Expertise

  • I prefer to not be approached about

  • Preferred Method of Contact

  • Currently available to connect

  • My typical response rate

  1. Click the "SAVE" button, and this information will populate on your profile page.

How to Update Your Venture Info:

  1. Click “Edit Connection and Venture Info” under your profile photo, or click on “Edit My Profile” in the top navigation menu. Either, will take you to this new page of drop down menus.

  1. Click the “My Venture” drop down menu.

  • These fields provide a deeper context on your venture status, venture stage of development, the issue area it falls under, the sector of influence, the area of impact you are working towards, and challenges you’re facing. Additionally, there is a custom field you can use to write anything else you want to share about their venture. This could include links to your website, videos, or pictures.

  • It is important to note that “Venture Information” can only be displayed if you first contact your program directly to turn the setting on.

  1. Fill out the following fields:

  • Venture Status

  • Venture Stage - referring to the stage of your venture's development

  • Venture Issue Area - the broadest categorization of the sector or issue area your venture is rooted in

  • Sector to Influence - because the sector or issue area from which a venture operates may differ from the sector(s) it seeks to influence, this is intended to capture the sector(s) targeted by your venture

  • Impact Areas - this drills down further into the specific areas of the sectors you wish to have an impact on

  • My biggest challenge - a space where you may share a challenge that you're looking for support around

  • Learn more about my venture - a free text field where you can add links, pictures, etc.

  1. Click the "SAVE" button, and this information will populate on your profile page.

Filling out these fields will help you better set expectations with each other and improve the experience of those trying to navigate the network and its resources.

This enhanced profile information creates a new resource that will enable you to reach out to one another for support and advice, strengthening the network connections of the AGLN. These settings should updated like an out-of-office message – kept accurate if things change.

It should also be noted that this information is only available if you are logged into the website.

If you have any questions on these new fields or recommendations for additional information you’d like displayed on your profile, email philip.javellana@aspeninstitute.org
