Julie Song is the deputy director for the Aspen Global Leadership Network (AGLN). She manages the “Leading in an Era of Globalization” seminar series in addition to maintaining relationships with the AGLN's 14 Fellowship programs to ensure continuous and effective engagement and sound governance. She started with the AGLN in the fall of 2014 with the Middle East Leadership Initiative and the China Fellowship Programs before taking on the Globalization seminar series portfolio in the fall of 2018. Prior to this, she was a researcher at the European Leadership Network in London while studying for her master’s degree. Previously, she was the project coordinator for the Project on U.S. Relations with the Islamic World at the Brookings Institution's Center for Middle East Policy. In this capacity, she helped organize the annual U.S.-Islamic World Forum, held in Washington DC and Doha, Qatar, as well as all other events for the Project. She has also served as a Brent Scowcroft Award Fellow at the Aspen Strategy Group and as a research assistant for the Advocacy Planning and Evaluation Program at the Aspen Institute. She has a BA in international studies with a focus on East Asian politics from the Johns Hopkins University and an MSc in Middle East politics with a focus on Turkish foreign policy in the Middle East from the University of London's School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS).
