Kristen Kane most recently served as the Chief Executive Officer of Ladies of Launch, an early stage new media company whose mission is to support women entrepreneurs. Kristen Kane is Chief Operating Officer of the New York City Department of Education. Previously, she served as Chief of Staff to Chancellor Joel Klein and Chief Executive of the Office of New Schools, which opened 178 new small schools and charters in New York City under her leadership. She is a founding Board Member of the NYC Center for Charter School Excellence. Before joining the New York City Department of Education in 2002, Kane worked at the New Schools Venture Fund as a summer associate, served as a vice president and equity research analyst at JPMorgan covering the education industry, and worked at Salomon Smith Barney. She has an MBA and Certificate in Public Management from the Stanford Graduate School of Business and a BA from Yale University. She is a Fellow of the inaugural class of the Aspen Institute-NewSchools Fellowship and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network.
