Title and Organization:
Xiomara Diaz is co-founder of The Garden Café (TGC) in Granada, Nicaragua, founded in 2007, and based on a blend of healthy California and traditional Nicaraguan cuisine. TGC rescues the traditional colonial charm of Granada and has become a must-visit venue. More importantly, TGC is a successful business model with relevant social impact as it largely benefits not only its stakeholders, but also all the people its business touches. Xiomara is also founder of The Garden Shop and Unleash Potential Nicaragua. The first being a branch fair-trade-business where over 50 local Nicaraguan artisans distribute their creations; and the latter, a grassroots program that emotionally and economically empowers at risk Nicaraguan girls between 9-18 years old. Xiomara is a board member of CANATUR-Granada and is actively involved in two businesswomen s networks. Xiomara s areas of expertise are small businesses and social entrepreneurship. She has participated in a number of entrepreneurship and mentorship programs at both national and international level, and is currently a member of the Consultative Youth Council of the US Embassy. In March 2015, Xiomara received the award of Young Entrepreneur of the Year by the Red de Empresarias de Nicaragua. She is a Fellow of the eleventh class of the Central America Leadership Initiative and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership.net.
