Title and Organization:
Dan Wagner is the Founder and CEO of Civis Analytics, a data science technology and advisory firm based in Chicago, IL and Washington, DC. Since its founding in 2013, Dan has successfully grown the company, both in staffing and revenue, and has pivoted the company’s strategy from consulting services to platform development and sales. Prior to founding Civis Analytics, Dan served as the Chief Analytics Officer for the Obama campaign, overseeing a 54-person team of analysts, engineers and organizers that provided analytics and technologies for voter contact, digital, paid media, fundraising, and communication. He also served as the Analytics Director for the Democratic National Committee (DNC), overseeing a 15-person Microtargeting and Analytics department at the Democratic Party Headquarters. During his time at the DNC, Dan developed party strategy, provided tactical program guidance and evaluation, and developed operating metrics based on rigorous statistical analysis of individual-level U.S. voter data. Dan began his work in politics as the Deputy Voter File Manager for Barack Obama during the 2008 Iowa caucuses. This position led to roles as the Director of the Great Lakes Targeting Desk and National Get Out the Vote Targeting, followed by the National Targeting Director of the Democratic National Committee for the 2010 election cycle. He has also worked with the FTI Consulting Economics Practice and as a Business and Economics Reporter for the Santiago Times in Chile. Dan graduated with honors from the University of Chicago with his B.A. in Economics and Public Policy. He is a member of the 2016 Class of Henry Crown Fellows and the Aspen Global Leadership Network at the Aspen Institute.
