Bio:
Katherine is Co-Head of the North America Institutional business and Country Head of Canada at Ninety One, a global investment firm managing $165 billion in AUM. As a member of Ninety One’s senior leadership team and Global Client Group Ex-Co, Katherine plays a pivotal role in shaping the company's strategic direction and business growth. With a proven track record spanning over a decade with Ninety One, she has successfully built and managed several business units in London-Cape Town, New York and Toronto. Katherine joined Ninety One London in 2012 to create the Investment Institute, a long-term thematic research and Strategic Client Engagement team that now forms a key part of Ninety One’s Global Multi-Asset investment platform. In 2018, she moved to New York to help lead the expansion of Ninety One’s North America business development strategy. She established Ninety One Canada, now a multi-billion dollar AUM business that delivers tailored investment solutions to a diverse range of sophisticated, institutional clients, drawing on Ninety One's specialist expertise in emerging markets and sustainable investing. Over the course of her career, Katherine has gained valuable cross-industry experience in investment banking, private equity, and asset management. Her journey began in Toronto in 1999 in the M&A team at BMO Capital Markets then the Venture Capital group at CIBC Capital Markets before joining a single Family Investment Office in London-Johannesburg. Prior to Ninety One, she was a Director and Head of Africa at the World Economic Forum in Geneva, where she led government and CEO engagement at Davos. Katherine’s academic achievements include a Master's degree from Harvard University's Kennedy School of Government, where she received multiple awards for academic and leadership excellence. She graduated with honours, with a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Victoria and holds FINRA Series 7 and 63 licenses. Beyond her role at Ninety One, Katherine is actively engaged in a variety of industry leadership positions and philanthropic initiatives. She serves as the Chair of the Board of the Investor Leadership Network, an influential CEO-led group and G7 initiative of the Canadian government comprising 14 global institutional investors with a collective AUM of US$13 trillion. Katherine is a Moderator and Fellow of the Aspen Institute Finance Leaders program and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network. She is currently serving as a member of the Board and Investment Committee of Women's College Hospital Foundation in Toronto.
