Bio:
Kristin Ehrgood is the president and board chair of Flamboyan Foundation, a path-forging private family foundation that generates catalytic and sustainable results in education for students most affected by inequity in Washington, D.C., and Puerto Rico.
In DC, Flamboyan is accelerating student learning by helping educators transform their relationships with families so that parents have the information they need to guide their child’s educational path from birth through college. In Puerto Rico, Flamboyan is working to build a strategic, results-driven philanthropic and nonprofit sector in education. Additionally, Flamboyan is focused on ensuring students are reading on grade level in Spanish by third grade.
Prior to founding Flamboyan Foundation in 2006, Kristin founded Sapientis, a non-profit committed to improving public education in Puerto Rico. She previously worked with Teach for America, first as a corps member, then as executive director of the New Jersey region, and then was director of new site development.
Kristin earned a Masters in Public Administration from Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government in 2001, and her Bachelor of Arts in international relations from Bucknell University.
Ehrgood currently serves as the board chair of DC School Reform Now, and sits on the boards of Teach For America-DC and Venture Philanthropy Partners. She is a trustee of the US Olympic and Paralympic Foundations.
Ehrgood lives in Washington, D.C., with her husband Vadim, their son, Pavlik and daughter Keira. She is a Fellow of the 15th class of the Pahara - Aspen Education Fellowship and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network.
