Title and Organization:
Paty is a social entrepreneur, activist, and advocate for economic development in the DC metropolitan area. Paty began her career in business development and insurance in Peru where she grew up. After moving to the United States and working in international development at the Inter-American Development Bank in Washington, DC in 2010, she found her true calling as a catalyst for social change.
She founded La Cocina VA in 2012 with a vision to create opportunities for economic growth specifically focusing on the Hispanic community. She currently leads this workforce and small business development non-profit organization that empowers unemployed immigrants to be agents of change by preparing them for culinary careers and entrepreneurship while providing and promoting healthy food.
Paty’s commitment to helping those in need is unparalleled. Through La Cocina VA, she has been able to help immigrants and low-income men and women get the necessary skills to pull themselves out of poverty, and in the process, has expanded their access to fresh fruits and vegetables.
Her vision and leadership exemplify that she cares deeply about her community and has proven that she will work tirelessly to help those in need.
