Title and Organization:
Valerie Green grew up in Baltimore, then moved to Chicago where she studied Social Policy and Education at Northwestern University. During her time at Northwestern, she partnered with the Global Engagement Studies Institute, supporting the implementation of a water purification project in partnership with a local NGO in Uganda. Additionally, she completed the Glide Memorial Church Leadership Institute, advocating for underserved individuals as they obtained basic needs services, housing, and employment in the Tenderloin District of San Francisco. Upon graduation, she began her teaching career through Teach For America in South Los Angeles, then moved to Oakland to continue teaching at Leadership Public Schools. Passionate about the impact of effective teachers and leaders on student achievement in public education, Val made the shift to talent acquisition at Green Dot Public Schools, where Val founded the Adelante Credentialing Program, a partnership aimed at bringing more diverse talent into schools. Currently, she is a Senior Education Recruiter at the Wonderful Company in Los Angeles. In this role, she seeks to maximize the impact of the Wonderful Company's education programs across the Central Valley of California by finding exceptional teachers and leaders, and building partnerships.
