Title and Organization:
Tilly Franklin is the CIO-designate of the Cambridge University Endowment Fund. She is currently working as director of private equity at Alta Advisers, a London-based single family investment office. At Alta, Tilly's primary responsibility is for the construction and supervision of a substantial global portfolio of investments in private equity funds. She also participates in multi-asset class portfolio reviews and asset allocation. Tilly joined Alta in March 2008. She was previously a principal at Apax Partners, where she led a number of successful leveraged buyout transactions during her eight-year tenure. She was named one of the Top 35 Women Under 35 by Management Today magazine in 2006. Prior to Apax, Tilly held a number of positions at BBC Worldwide, Virgin Management. and McKinsey & Company. Outside Alta, Tilly is a member of the Cambridge University Investment Board and of the Investment Committee of Jesus College, Cambridge. She holds a first class degree from Cambridge University in english literature, and an MBA from London Business School. Tilly was also a Kennedy Scholar at Harvard’s Graduate School of Arts and Sciences. She lives in London with her husband Eric Beinhocker and two daughters. Tilly is a Fellow of the 2017 class of the Finance Leaders Fellowship and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network.
