Julie has been celebrated as an education disruptor for nearly three decades. She was the founding CEO and president of Florida Virtual School, the world's first state-wide virtual school and one of the nation's largest K-12 online education provider. When not leading international school programs, you'll find her at the nearest beach with several golden retrievers. Julie Young is chief executive officer at Global Personalized Academics (GPA), a role she assumed in July 2015. GPA provides virtual and classroom learning to help students across the globe transform the way they learn. Under her leadership, Young will oversee the company's plans to offer international students the opportunity to earn a dual diploma from their native country in addition to one from a U.S. accredited high school through virtual learning. GPA is also establishing a unique exchange program where students and teachers spend time learning and teaching in the U.S. and the international countries where its students live. Prior to joining GPA, Young was founding president and CEO of the Florida Virtual School, the world's first virtual statewide school district. Young helped grow the organization from 77 students in Florida to more than 2 million students worldwide. She guides GPA to provide a global learning ecosystem with virtual and classroom-based quality education so no student will be left behind, regardless of where they are in the world. Young is a strong advocate for personalized learning that opens career and life pathways for students around the world. A leading authority on virtual and online K-12 education, Young is a frequent speaker on topics about the future of education. She is a Fellow of the 22nd class of the Pahara - Aspen Education Fellowship and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network.
