Title and Organization:
John LaCour is a technology entrepreneur who has pioneered solutions in the cybersecurity arena. In 2008 he founded PhishLabs, a threat intelligence and mitigation company that protects brands and customers from internet threats. PhishLabs was recognized as a Best Places to Work company for over 6 years, Inc 5000 company for over 4 years, and Deloitte Technology Fast 500 company for 2 years.
John has been a speaker at prestigious events and conferences such as TEDX, RSA Security Conference, and Security BSides. In 2022, he was recognized as Entrepreneur of the Year following the successful sale of PhishLabs to Minneapolis-based HelpSystems. John was also accepted as a member of YPO (Young Presidents Organization), for leading CEOs under 45.
Prior to founding PhishLabs, he gained product management experience working at several Silicon Valley cybersecurity companies, including MarkMonitor, RedSeal Systems, Zone Labs, and NetScreen Technologies.
In addition to serving as Board Director for PhishLabs, with a view to “giving back,” John has been an advisory board member for multiple South Carolina-based non-profit organizations. His reputation and experience in the technology and cybersecurity sector has enabled him to serve in various governance roles, where he provides guidance on cybersecurity trends, needs and opportunities. John is passionate about supporting emerging leaders and helping technology companies grow successfully, while also championing values for equity and the environment.
John’s educational background includes several years of computer science coursework at Louisiana State University and Northwestern University. His personal interests include global travel with his wife, Catherine, learning about and consuming wine, and DJ-ing 80s music.
