Carlos Enrique Mata Saravia – (“Quique”)
Carlos Enrique is the founder and managing partner of Grupo DNA, a unique venture capital and business development ecosystem in Central America. Since 2009, through DNA, he has invested and founded several ventures across the region in sectors such as Technology, Telecommunications, Financial Services, Communications & Media and Real Estate Services. As managing partner, he actively oversees all of DNA’s deal sourcing as well as current portfolio investments. As an entrepreneur, he founded Pmovil Centro America as his first venture prior to establishing DNA. During that time, he led the company efforts to become a leading telecommunications value- added services provider in the region.
Carlos currently serves in the board of directors for Banco Ficohsa Guatemala and Productive Business Solutions (PBS).
From an academic standpoint Carlos has though several courses in Mobile Marketing, Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Technology at Universidad del Itsmo and Universidad Francisco Marroquin in Guatemala. He has also been a guest columnist for El Periodico, one of Guatemala’s leading newspapers.
Before becoming an entrepreneur, Carlos worked several years at UBS Investment Bank as a part of the Debt Capital Markets Group. He graduated from Georgetown University with a dual degree in Finance & Management and given his current involvement in technology and venture capital recently completed Draper University’s VCx Program. He recently enrolled in INCAE’s Executive MBA Program which he expects to complete in 2017.
