Kim Polese is the cofounder and Chairman of CrowdSmart.ai, a collaborative AI platform that integrates human collective intelligence so groups of any size can co-create breakthrough innovations, decisions and solutions at scale.
Kim is also cofounder of CommonGoodAI.org, an open initiative advancing the global deployment of a new form of AI that facilitates collaborative conversations at scale so people can move beyond ideological differences to surface common ground and co-create solutions to often contentious issues in their communities and beyond.
Kim has co-founded and led multiple technology companies including Marimba, one of the world’s most popular IoT platforms. As Java’s founding product manager, Kim led its launch at Sun Microsystems. She began her career as an applications engineer at Stanford spinout IntelliCorp, the first AI company to go public, helping Fortune 100 companies implement expert systems.
Passionate about public policy that drives responsible innovation, Kim serves on boards including the Silicon Valley Leadership Group, the Long Now Foundation and the California Statewide Leadership Council. She also teaches the capstone entrepreneurship class at UC Berkeley’s Haas School of Business and advises numerous early-stage companies.
Kim received her bachelor’s degree in Biophysics from the University of California at Berkeley, completed post-baccalaureate study in Computer Science at the University of Washington and was awarded an honorary doctorate in Business and Economics from California State University.
