Kim Polese is a founder and a recognized leader in the technology industry. She currently serves as Chairman of CrowdSmart.ai, a collective intelligence AI platform that helps organizations reduce ingrained bias and make radically better decisions. Kim has helped bring several seminal technologies to the world including Java, leading its launch at Sun Microsystems. Kim also co-founded Marimba, which became one of the world’s most widely-used IoT platforms, serving as CEO and Chairman and leading the company to profitability, an IPO and a successful acquisition.
Kim advises numerous technology startups and serves on boards including the Long Term Stock Exchange, TechNet, the Silicon Valley Leadership Group and the Public Policy Institute of California. As a member of the Obama Administration's Innovation Advisory Board, she helped to create a Congressionally-mandated report for increasing America’s innovation capacity.
Kim received her Bachelor's degree in Biophysics from UC Berkeley, studied computer science at the University of Washington and was awarded an Honorary Doctorate in Business and Economics from California State University. She is the recipient of the numerous awards and recognition including Information Week's "Top Technology Executives," the National Center for Women and Information Technology Innovator Award and Time Magazine's “25 Most Influential Americans”. Kim is a 2001 Henry Crown Fellow of the Aspen Institute and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network.
