After 20 years of supporting and learning from Fellows, the Aspen Global Leadership Network (AGLN) is exploring new ways to help make meaningful connections among our members. With over 2,200 Fellows in 49 countries, the Network has never been more diverse or wide-reaching.

Spurred on by the recent endowment of the Resnick Aspen Action Forum through 2030, we are thinking about what the AGLN’s impact could be in the years to come. What more can we do to activate the potential of this network of leading doers across sectors and geographies to enact meaningful social change?

Over the next couple of months, the AGLN will roll out a number of initiatives designed to support Ventures (Fellowship Projects and Action Pledges) and create environments where collaborations among AGLN members can take root.

Our goals are to:
  1. Inspire Fellows to think bigger and bolder with their Action Pledges and Venture goals;
  2. Encourage AGLN members to support Action Pledges and Ventures with resources and knowledge that they are uniquely positioned to bring to the table;
  3. Drive collaboration across the network by creating multiple opportunities for Fellows to work together in person and virtually throughout the year.

To achieve these goals, we believe the first step is to organize and make publically available the full scope of the AGLN’s entrepreneurial activity. As some Fellow have showed an interest in connecting and collaborating with others, our approach – starting at this summer’s Resnick Aspen Action Forum – is to encourage Fellows to place their Action Pledges into one of eight Collaborative Action Groups. Joining a Collaborative Action Group is optional.

The Collaborative Action Groups are:
  1. Values-Based Leadership
  2. Arts and Culture
  3. Clean Air, Water, Food and Energy
  4. Entrepreneurship
  5. Equitable Access to Education
  6. Health and Well-Being
  7. Human Rights
  8. Innovation for the Public Good

At this summer’s Resnick Aspen Action Forum, you’ll see a number of new initiatives designed to spur collaborative action, including:

 A new Action Wall that will: (i) visually represent each fellow’s pledge as part of a broader Collaborative Action effort, and (ii) - encourage fellows to publicly support pledges that inspire them;

If you tag your pledge to one of the Collaborative Action Groupings ahead of the Forum, this group will be printed on your Action Forum badge;

Breakfast Workshops will be offered on the morning of July 20 and 22 for each Collaborative Action Group to meet in person;

This year’s Connection Hour will be focused on creating space for innovators doing work in relevant areas (e.g., education, health, etc.) to learn about each other’s work and explore potential collaborations.

And virtually, we’ll be rolling out a number of ways to continue conversations and facilitate connections, including:

The new AGLN website will have space to encourage online discussions groups for each of the eight Collaborative Action Groups;

The AGLN will schedule and facilitate quarterly calls for each of the Collaborative Action Groups.

Want to get started now?
Participants in the Action Forum will have the opportunity to place their Action Pledge in one of these categories, allowing us to better facilitate collaborations among Fellows. An email has been sent to all registered participants with links to do so. If you haven't received one, contact Eric Lavin (eric.lavin@aspeninstitute.org).
