Freeman Shen is the founder and CEO of WM Motor, a leading smart car technologies company in China. He was the board member and group vice president of Geely Holding Group, which is the parent company of Volvo Car Group based in Sweden. He also holds the positions of chairman and CEO of Shanghai Geely Zhaoyuan International. Freeman was in charge of the acquisition of Volvo Car Group, which is the largest and most successful case in Chinese auto history. Previously, Freeman was the senior vice president of Volvo Car Group and the chairman of Volvo Car China, in charge of establishing the operations of Volvo Car in China. His board assignments include Volvo Car Group, Geely Holding Group, Hilite International and the Chinese subsidiaries of BorgWarner, and Fiat Group. Prior to this, Freeman was the vice president of Fiat Group China, CEO of Fiat Powertrain Technologies China, and a member of the steering committee of Fiat. Freeman also worked for a few Global 500 Companies based in North America and Europe, including TXU Group, Eaton Corporation and BorgWarner Inc. Freeman was awarded the Camellia Award from Zhejiang Provincial Government in 2003, and Magnolia Award from Shanghai Municipal Government in 2013. Freeman holds a B.S. degree in Engineering from South China University of Technology, a M.S. degree in Engineering from UCLA, and an MBA from the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota. He is also a graduate from Advanced Management Program (AMP) at Harvard Business School. Freeman is a Fellow of the third class of the China Fellowship Program and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network.
