John Mirenge is executive chairman of Tri-Star Investments. He was previously director of Electrogaz, the Rwandan electricity and water public utility, where he made the organization profitable within two years. Prior to joining Electrogaz, he was chief operating officer of MTN Rwanda, the biggest private communications company in Rwanda. He was also corporate and legal secretary there, where he also managed international and interconnect business. John joined MTN Rwanda from the Ministry of Fiannce and Economic Planning, where he was senior legal adviser to the Minister. He chairs the board of directors of Prime Holdings and serves on a number of other boards of public and private entities. John holds an LLB and postgraduate diploma in legal practice and has attended numerous trainings in business management. He is a Fellow of the second class of the Africa Leadership Initiative-East Africa and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network.
