Jane Frederick was the 2020 President of The American Institute of Architects. She has been a principal of Frederick + Frederick Architects in Beaufort, South Carolina since 1989. She was awarded Fellowship in the American Institute of Architects (AIA) in 2012 for her service to the profession. Jane was the 2016-2018 at-large director on the AIA National Board, representing over 95,000 domestic and international architects. She served as chairman of the AIA National Small Firm Round Table in 2012-2013 and continues to work on projects with them. In 2010, Jane was president of AIA South Carolina and served on that board from 2005 - 2011.
Frederick serves as a visiting team chair for the National Architectural Accreditation Board, which accredits all the architectural schools in the US. Jane is the former chair of both the South Carolina Board of Architectural Examiners and the Southern Conference of the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards. She served on various committees over nine years in writing the National Architectural Exam.
Jane received her bachelor's degree in architecture from Auburn University. She is licensed to practice in South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia, Mississippi, and Alabama. Her firm has received numerous design awards and has been featured in national publication including The Wall Street Journal. She is a Fellow of the inaugural class of the Liberty Fellowship Program and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network.
