Bio:
An experienced nurse, administrator, Michelle is leading Tuomey Hospital in her native Sumter South Carolina into the next phase of healthcare. She understands first-hand the challenges rural South Carolina faces and is not afraid to tackle the needs which remain unmet. Michelle is beloved by her community, as noted by the recognition she has received for her work with local awards too numerous to list. A member of the American College of Healthcare Executives, she also has made impact state-wide, receiving the Community Service Award for Medicine given by the National Council of Negro Women in 2014. Michelle serves on the Board of Trustees for the South Carolina Hospital Association and for Wilson Hall School. Michelle holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of South Carolina and Doctor of Healthcare Administration and Master of Healthcare Administration from the Medical University of South Carolina. She is a Fellow of the 2018 Class of Liberty Fellowship and is a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network.
