Emily Dean supports Youth & Engagement Programs’ Aspen Young Leaders Fellowship as its Program Associate after two and a half years as an Executive Assistant, supporting the Finance and Operations departments at Enviva, a producer of sustainable biomass used for global energy generation. Prior to Enviva, Emily worked as an Education Intern at The Alliance to Save Energy, focusing on incorporating energy efficiency practices into K-12 curricula. During her college career at The University of Wisconsin-Madison, Emily led the school’s Slow Food chapter as its Communications Director and Grant Writing Intern. In these roles, Emily raised funds and garnered community support for sustainable agriculture practices and events promoting the local economy and food culture. Emily also enjoyed her time as a Writing Fellow on campus – mentoring the student body on the writing and editing processes.
As Program Coordinator, Emily provide administrative and programmatic support to Raj Vinnakota, Tre Maxie, and the entire Youth & Engagement team. In her free time, Emily can be found exploring the DC dining scene, attending a concert or training for her next half marathon.
