Edgar Tung is chief executive officer of the Esquel Group, one of the world's leading apparel and technology companies, employing over 35,000 people worldwide.
Edgar is a seasoned executive with more than 25 years of solid general management experience in different industries, including technology, quality assurance as well as food and beverage retailing. Prior to his appointment as CEO at Esquel, he was the COO and had taken on other leadership roles in sales and marketing, human resources and other corporate functions in the group. Early on in his career, he has founded an Internet start-up powering performance-based online marketing in Greater China, designed and structured equity derivatives products at the Jardine Fleming Group, and coordinated the design and launch of Hong Kong’s Mandatory Provident Fund (MPF) System as an administrative officer of the Hong Kong Government.
An established public speaker, Edgar has frequently been featured in apparel and youth forums. He is also an agenda contributor of the World Economic Forum focusing on Advanced Manufacturing and Production. Edgar is the founding Chairman of the Youth Arch Foundation that aims at identifying and developing young leaders. He also chairs the supervisory committee of the Youth Arch Trust and sits on the Board of the Esquel - Y.L Yang Education Foundation. In 2009, Edgar was named one of China’s Most Innovative Leaders by Innovation China.
A native mainland Chinese grown up in Hong Kong, Edgar graduated from the Imperial College, London with a B.Eng (Computing) degree, and obtained his MBA from the Harvard Business School. Edgar is also a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA). He speaks fluent Cantonese, Mandarin and English.
Edgar is a Fellow of the sixth class of the China Fellowship Program and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network.
