Jonathan Ferrara is a New Orleans- based artist, gallery owner, community activist, and cultural producer. He creates opportunities for artists and artistic projects internationally to help creatives actualize their visions. He firmly believes that art can be used as a catalyst for social change and is a leader in the movement to make New Orleans a national arts destination. His eponymous gallery exhibits works by local, national, and international artists. He has produced projects in Cuba, Germany, Switzerland, Hungary and across the US that have been featured in The New York Times, TIME magazine, The Atlantic, and on NPR, VICE and ABC’s “Good Morning America." The traveling exhibition he curated and produced, "Guns In The Hands of Artists" has been activated in 7 cities across the US since 2014. In 2017, he created the Guns In The Hands of Artists Foundation to work with communities across the country to address the issue of guns and gun violence by using the art as the language for dialogue and possible change...Decommissioned guns taken off the streets are given to artists to use in their creative process to address the issue of guns and gun violence in America. Ferrara is passionate about the role the arts play in society and is committed to expanding the impact creatives in society.
