Title and Organization:
Dr. Richard Nyankori is the founder and CEO of SPEDx, an education technology company that explores data to attain extraordinary successes for students with special needs. Prior to founding SPEDx, Richard was the executive vice president of Insight Education Group, where he led the development of two award-winning products. Before Insight, Richard instituted a sweeping set of reforms to reverse decades-long decline of the special education system in the nation’s capital as Deputy Chancellor of Special Education for the Washington, DC Public Schools.
Richard advises various educational technology companies and is a founding board member of RedefinED Atlanta, a social impact investor for Atlanta area schools, Education Leaders of Color (EdLoC), and The National Academy of Advanced Teacher Education (NAATE). He is a national advisor to SWIFT Schools (for inclusive education) based at the University of Kansas. Additionally, he serves as faculty to some of the education sector’s top leadership programs including the Surge Institute and NAATE.
Richard earned a PhD from University of Maryland, a master’s degree from McDaniel College, and bachelor’s degree at Emory University. Richard resides in the Atlanta area. He is a Pahara-Aspen Education Fellow (Cohort IV), a moderator for the Pahara Institute, and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network.
