As founder and managing partner managing at Roo Partners, Nate leads the healthcare and technology investment teams investing in seed, series A, and series B companies. He brings an impressive 20+ year track record in the technology space as a private equity operating partner, software expert, and entrepreneur, having started and exited three successful startups.
Most recently prior to Roo Partners, Nate was a managing partner at Acertitude, where he launched the healthcare and tech practice to advise middle market healthcare and technology companies. Prior to Acertitude, Nate spent the preceding seven years as founder, president, and CEO of PeopleMatter, a venture-backed, workforce management SaaS company serving global brands. Prior to starting PeopleMatter, he was part of the founding executive team as vice president of sales at Benefitfocus (NASDAQ: BNFT), where he was part of the team that took the company from a startup to the largest employer benefits software provider in the U.S.
Nate has sat on the board of numerous private equity and venture backed healthcare and software companies, has been a trustee of his alma mater, Hampden Sydney College and was a 2013 American Swiss Foundation Fellow. Nate is an active member of Young Presidents’ Organization (YPO) and a licensed commercial pilot holding seven different ratings for single and multiengine land and seaplanes along with a commercial pilot’s license for helicopters. Nate is a fellow of the 12th class of the Liberty Fellowship and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network.
