Bio:
Gugu Sepamla is a senior advisor at BCG. She was Managing Director for Public Policy and Strategy at Barclays Africa. Previously headed public sector and government at Ernst & Young. She was previously Harith director of the Public Investment Corporation, and before that was executive director of Spin Media, which she co-founded in 2000. South African born Gugu Sepamla was recently selected by Forbes onto its list of ‘Top 10 most Powerful and Influential Women in Africa’. She was selected as a World Economic Forum Young Global Leader, a community of less than a 1000 across the globe who are viewed as leaders helping play a role in positively impacting the world across sectors (business, government and the not for profit sectors). She also worked as a marketing and communications executive at the State Information Technology Agency. Prior to the government, she was a political journalist at the South African Broadcasting Corporation and worked as a senior producer on AM/PM Live on SAFM. She spent two years as head of broadcast training at the Institute for the Advancement of Journalism. Gugu is a strategy and media advisor to the chairman of Mvelaphanda Group, Tokyo Sexwale, the SABC, Land Bank, Gauteng Shared Services, Parliament, Transnet, and the Department of Home Affairs. She is a non-executive director of Powertel. Gugu holds a BA in journalism and economics from Durban University of Technology and an MBA from Bond University in Australia, as well as an advanced management certificate from Wits Business School. Gugu is also a Senior Advisor for Boston Global Consulting (BCG). She is a Fellow of the fourth class of the Africa Leadership Initiative-South Africa and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network.
