Ranji advises innovative entrepreneurs/leaders in investment, technology and mission-driven organizations toward achieving their strategic objectives with purpose, compassion, and clear-eyed strategy.
Ranji has nearly four decades of leadership experience in the financial services industry, particularly in investment management, strategy, talent management and business development. She was most recently Chief Strategy and Chief Commercial Officer of Strategic Value Partners, a global private capital investment firm managing over US$17 Billion in opportunistic credit/ private equity investments. She was previously Chief Executive Officer of Hirtle Callaghan, a pioneer of the Outsourced Chief Investment Officer (OCIO) fiduciary model. She has held leadership roles at UBS Asset Management, AllianceBernstein, Bridgewater Associates and Corsair Capital. She also served as Chief Investment Advisor/Board Chair for the administration of Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg, leading the City of New York's public employee pension plans.
Ranji has served on numerous boards and/or investment committees including Yale University Investment Committee, Yale School of Management Advisory Board, Yale International Center for Finance, Curtis Institute, UAW VEBA Investment Advisory Committee, Wallace Foundation and the North American Council of Ashoka, a global fellowship of social entrepreneurs, among many others. She earned a Bachelor of Commerce from Mumbai University in India, a MBA from the Yale School of Management and is a Chartered Financial Analyst.
Ranji is a Henry Crown Fellow of the Aspen Institute and moderator for the Aspen Global Leadership Network. Her chief life mission outside her professional endeavors is to deepen the crucial connection between Finance and Society through the Aspen Finance Leaders Fellowship (FLF) program she founded at the Aspen Institute. FLF, with nearly 150 leaders working in over 20 countries, is a global network of enlightened leaders who use finance to build the good society.
Ranji relies greatly on her husband Bo Hopkins and their two grown children Mira and Jay for their shared laughter, love and courage.
