Title and Organization:
Leonor Gutiérrez Fernández is a social entrepreneur who believes deeply in youth. She currently runs the Advancement Office at United World College Costa Rica, an organization that strives to educate a diverse group of young men and women, in order to become happy, healthy and committed individuals. Through leadership and engagement they are able to foster positive change in their communities and contribute to achieving a more sustainable and peaceful world. She is now a board member at TeenSmart, which she previously led for seven years. TeenSmart is an international NGO that provides services to reduce risky behavior, such as teen pregnancy, substance abuse, and violence, to more than 30,000 teenagers in Costa Rica and Nicaragua. Leonor also supports the board of Vital Voices Costa Rica, a very successful feminist organization that supports women through a mentorship program. She is a Fellow of the 6th class of the Central America Leadership Initiative (CALI) and the Aspen Global Leadership Network.
