Bio:
Frederick Mutebi Kitaka is a Ugandan businessperson and co-founder of Cipla Quality Chemical Industries Ltd., a state of the art pharmaceutical manufacturing facility located in Luzira Industrial Park in Kampala, Uganda.
Today, Frederick is active in pharmaceutical manufacturing, real estate, financial services, as well as retail. Frederick is focused on building a real estate portfolio that will include residential and commercial properties, shopping centers and hotels. Frederick’s enduring legacy will however continue to be his pharmaceutical manufacturing business, which he helped build from scratch and grow it into an efficient highly profitable and international looking company that is today valued at USD 350 million.
Frederick is a philanthropist with contributions to various causes but mainly education. “For me, philanthropy means creating opportunities for deserving but less privileged people. It is about supporting amazing talents to enable them achieve their full potential. I believe the greatest investment we can make is in the education of our children. It is the only way to get our country out of backwardness and poverty”, says Frederick.
An African Leadership Initiative Fellow of the 3rd class and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network, Frederick also sits on a number of boards including Cipla Quality Chemical Industries Ltd., Quality Chemicals Ltd., Legacy Capital Partners (Tanzania), Biashara Capital (Uganda) and Buganda Investment and Commercial Undertakings Limited, a Buganda government investments holding company.
Mr. Mutebi graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Accounting and Finance from the University of Buckingham, UK in 1991 and currently lives in Kampala, Uganda with his wife, Doreen, and three children: Phillip, Vanessa and Annalisa.
