Title and Organization:
Jen Holleran launched and led Mark Zuckerberg and Priscilla Chan’s education philanthropy in its first five years. She is presently focused on Mark and Priscilla’s commitment of $120 million to support initiatives around personalized learning, and quality school models and leaders to increase the number of great school options for high-need students across the Bay Area. She is also helping build out support to enable personalized learning more broadly across the country.
Jen has spent over two decades in education, initially as a teacher and principal. After spending time in the classroom, Jen worked in Oakland Unified School District to create small schools and to prepare their principals, followed by being the founding executive director of the Bay Area region of New Leaders for New Schools. Jen was also a consultant for McKinsey & Company, and then independently for foundations focused on leadership in urban schools.
Jen holds her MBA from Yale, and her BA and MEd from Harvard. She is a Pahara / Aspen Institute fellow and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network. Jen serves on the board of Phillips Exeter Academy, Newark Charter School Fund, the National Academy of Advanced Teacher Education and The Braven Accelerator.
