Bio:
Stella Kilonzo, MBS heads the Financial Markets Division, African Development Bank (AFDB) Group, Africa's premier multilateral development finance institution. Stella leads both the private and public sector capital markets lending operations and development throughout. In 2012, Stella founded Astute Capital, a strategic corporate finance advisory which structured Kenya’s Sovereign Wealth Fund and COMESA's Bond Fund. Stella served as Chief Executive Capital Markets Authority Kenya 2008-2012, the sole securities market regulator, where she introduced new products and led transformational reform, having honed her skills at Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA), USA and PricewaterhouseCoopers. Thought leadership roles have included World Economic Forum’s Global Agenda Council on Global Financial Systems 2012-14; and on Banking and Capital Markets 2011-12. Awardee of Moran of the Order of Burning Spear (MBS) in 2010 by Kenya President and International Alliance for Women World of Difference 100; Forbes Youngest Powerful Women and 100 most influential people in Africa; Is married with two sons. A First Class Honors Bachelors’ of Commerce from Catholic University of Eastern Africa, MBA Corporate Finance from Loyola University Chicago, and is a Certified Public Accountant, USA. A Fellow of the Africa Leadership Initiative (ALI) East Africa and member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network.
