Bio:
Alex Gu is Vice President of Medtronic, a world-leading medical products manufacturer. He is responsible for Medtronic MITG Greater China business operation as President, MITG. Prior to Medtronic acquisition, his position was country President of Covidien China. He had led the commercial operations since 2009, and also China Governance Committee, including manufacturing and R&D entities. Under Alex’s leadership, Covidien has been granted 2014 Most Customer Valued Company Award by China Business Network (CBN). Before that, Alex was the company executive with GE plastics and GE corporate in Shanghai for six years. In 2000, he joined McKinsey & Company in Chicago and subsequently the Shanghai office where he worked on sales & marketing, strategy, and operations across several industries. Earlier than that, he held multiple positions of increasing responsibilities with GE Healthcare in the U.S. for five years. Alex has served as one of AdvaMed China Council Founding Steering Committee members and chaired the Payment Working Group. He has an education background in engineering, with an MBA from the University of Chicago’s Booth School of Business. Alex is a Fellow of the third class of the China Fellowship Program and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network.
