Ann Lee-Karlon, PhD, is Chief Operating Officer at Altos Labs, which focuses on restoring cell health and reversing disease. She was previously senior vice president at Genentech and led Portfolio Management and Operations with oversight for more than 35 product development teams in the pipeline. Prior to joining Genentech, Ann was a leader in venture development at Eli Lilly. She has served as a senior biotech scientist in La Jolla and interned at UBS investment bank in London. Ann served as president and board chair for the Genentech Patient Foundation, which provides medicines to patients who are uninsured or underinsured. She was elected president and board chair for the Association of Women in Science (2014-2016), based in Washington, D.C. Ann holds an MBA from Stanford University, a BS in bioengineering from UC Berkeley, and a PhD in bioengineering from UC San Diego, where she was a National Science Foundation Fellow. She completed a postdoctoral fellowship at University College London as an NSF International Research Fellow. Ann was named one of the Remarkable Women of the University of California by the UC President's Office. She was elected Fellow of the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering. Ann is a Fellow of the inaugural class of the Health Innovators Fellowship and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network.
