Title and Organization:
Margaret Lapiz is the immediate past executive vice president of strategy and integration for The Permanente Medical Group, the nation’s largest independent medical group with over 9,000 physicians and 35,000 employees caring for 4.2 million Kaiser Permanente members. In this role, which she held from 2000 to 2017, Margaret provided strategic leadership in multiple areas, including strategy formulation and execution, operations integration, geographic and facilities expansion, budget and resource allocation, leadership development, diversity, employee and physician wellness. She is the founder of Prep Medico, a pipeline program focused on building the next generation of physicians who will advance Latino health; Diversity in Health Professions, an investment fund that creates pathway program partnerships between community colleges and community health organizations; and Under One Roof, a health impact venture focused on raising the overall health status of agriculturally-based communities. Margaret is a former member of the Mid-Atlantic Permanente Board of Directors and a current executive trustee of the UC Davis Foundation Board. She holds both an MBA and MPH from UC Berkeley and received her bachelor’s degree from UC Davis. Margaret is a Fellow of the second class of the Health Innovators Fellowship and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network.
