Bio:
Dr. David H. Roberts, MD, is the inaugural dean for external education and an associate professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School (HMS). As the dean for external education, David presides over the four major pillars of outfacing education at HMS, including HMX Online Learning, the Postgraduate Medical Education programs, Harvard Health Publications, and the program in Executive Education for leaders in business and science. Since 2001, David has been a pulmonary and critical care physician at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and an award-winning educator of medical students, residents, fellows, and faculty. David previously directed preclinical courses at Harvard Medical School and the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center Principal Clinical Experience. He is both a member and the former associate director of the faculty development-focused Academy at Harvard Medical School. David earned his bachelor’s degree in biochemistry, graduating summa cum laude, from Cornell University. He went on to complete medical training at Harvard, internal medicine training at Massachusetts General Hospital, and a pulmonary and critical care fellowship in the Harvard Combined Program. David lives in Newton, Massachusetts, with his wife and twins. David is a Fellow of the second class of the Health Innovators Fellowship and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network.
