Mike Piscal is the executive director at the Andre Agassi College Preparatory Academy (AACPA), a model charter school in Las Vegas, Nevada. The school is tasked with offering academic programs designed to enhance a child's character, respect, motivation, and self-discipline. Before joining AACPA, Mike founded the Inner City Education Foundation (ICEF). ICEF has opened nine public charter schools in the Crenshaw District of Los Angeles, serving 2,000 students. The first three schools (View Park Prep Elementary, Middle and High Schools) are so successful that they have a waiting list of over 6,000 students and have attracted prominent attention in the news media (NYT, WSJ, LA Times, Good Morning America.) In 2005, View Park Prep High School had the highest test scores in California for African-American students and 100 percent of the first graduating class went on to attend a four-year university. Mike graduated in 1988 from Wake Forest University. In 2005, Wake Forest granted him an honorary doctorate in the humanities. Mike is a Fellow of the second class of the Aspen Institute NewSchool Fellowship and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network.
