Title and Organization:
Carl Zaragoza is Vice President at Leadership for Educational Equity where he leads the organization’s elected leadership strategy. Previously, he served as government affairs director at Stand for Children Arizona where he led the affiliate’s strategy to increase educator and school quality. Zaragoza began his career in public education as an eighth-grade social studies teacher in central Phoenix. He was twice elected to the Creighton Elementary School District Governing Board and served twice as its President. Zaragoza is a United States Army veteran, a Teach For America alumnus, and five-time 140.6-mile Ironman triathlete. He earned an MBA from W.P. Carey School of Business and a BA in political science at Arizona State University. Zaragoza currently lives in Phoenix with his family and two rescue dogs. He is a Fellow of the fourth class of Pahara-Aspen Education Fellows, a Flinn-Brown Civic Leadership Academy Fellow, and member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network.
