K Nandini Singla is the ambassador of Inida to Portugal. She was Joint Secretary (Europe Desk) of the Ministry of External Affairs in New Delhi. Prior to this she was the Director in the AMS Division of the MEA, handling all aspects of India’s relations with the United States of America and Canada. She is a Diplomat in the MEA, Government of India and Joined the Indian Foreign Service in 1997. Prior to her current assignment, she served as First Secretary / Counsellor [Economic] in the Permanent Mission of India to the United Nations in Geneva, dealing with multilateral trade and economic issues such as Intellectual Property Rights, trade & development, South-South cooperation, global Internet Governance etc. She also served as First Secretary [Economic & Commercial] & Head of Chancery in the High Commission of India in Dhaka (Bangladesh) and as Under Secretary [UN Political Division] in the Ministry of External Affairs in New Delhi from January 2003 till December 2008. She started her career as Third Secretary/Second Secretary (Political, Cultural and Media) in the Indian Embassy in Paris, France. She has a Masters in Political Science & International Relations from Bombay University, Mumbai and M. Phil. in Diplomatic Studies from the School of International Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, India. Married to Sanjeev Kumar Singla, a fellow diplomat and batchmate in the Indian Foreign Service, they have two sons aged 13 and 8. She is a Fellow of the Famous V Class of Ananta Aspen’s Kamalnayan Bajaj Fellowship and a member of Aspen Global Leadership Network.
