Bio:
Busani Ngcaweni is deputy director-general in The Presidency. He has worked as senior policy analyst in the Policy Unit in The Presidency and as divisional director at Umsobomvu Youth Fund. His edited books include “The Future We Chose: Emerging Perspectives on the Centenary of the ANC” (Africa Institute), “Liberation Diaries: Reflections on 20 Years of Democracy” (Jacana Media), "Nelson R Mandela: Decolonial Ethics of Liberation and Servent Leadership" (Africa World Press), and "Sizonqoba: Outliving AIDS in Southern Africa" (Africa Institute). On behalf of Philani Dladla (popularly known as the pavement Bookworm), Ngcaweni initiated the Pavement Bookworm Foundation which collects and donates secondhand books to reading clubs, underprivileged schools and community libraries. Ngcaweni holds junior and senior degrees in education (University of Durban-Westville), a Master of Science in Urban and Regional Planning (Natal University) and Advanced Project Management Programme (School of Business Leadership/UNISA). He has received training in economic development from the London School of Economics and the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and is a PhD candidate at the University of Johannesburg.
