Bio:
Mondo Mazwai is a member of the Competition Tribunal of South Africa. She adjudicates competition matters involving mergers and acquisitions as well as prohibited practices brought before the Tribunal by both the Competition Commission and private parties. Mondo has previously served as the national head of the competition department at Cliffe Dekker Hofmeyer, where her practice spanned all aspects of competition law. She has represented clients in both the private and public sectors before competition authorities; some of her clients in the private sector included Coca-Cola, Aveng, Air Products, Lonmin, and Enviroserv, and in the public sector she has acted inter alia for SAA, Transnet and the PIC. Prior to joining Cliffe Dekker Hofmeyr, Mondo was the chief legal counsel and acting deputy commissioner of the Competition Commission of South Africa. Mondo is also the chairperson of the Massmart Black Scarce Skills Trust, an employee share trust; a trustee of the Enviroserv Employee Share Trust; and a non-executive director on the board of Delta Environmental Centre, a non-profit organization offering environmental education and training. She holds a B.Iuris from the University of Western Cape and an LL.B from University of Kwa-Zulu Natal. Mondo is a Fellow of the tenth class of the Africa Leadership Initiative – South Africa and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network.
