Bio:
Ivan Moroke is the chief executive officer of Co-Currency, a self-launched insight and marketing consultancy. He also serves as the vice-chairperson of APEX Effective Awards and is a director of the board of Brand Council of South Africa after a two year tenure as its chairperson. Ivan has previously served as chief executive officer and managing director at TBWA\Hunt\Lascaris as well as a managing director at Yellowwood Future Architects. In addition, Ivan worked as a strategy planner at Lowe Bull before joining the board as a shareholder and strategy director, eventually serving as managing director. Ivan has worked with international brand consultancy Added Value where he went on to become project director, starting a new business under the Added Value brand that focused on small business development. Ivan also worked at British American Tobacco (SA) as a regional manager, area manager, and sales and promotions representative. Ivan remembers his less formal professional journey, including running his family shebeen at 13 years of age in his parent’s four roomed house in Atteridgeville, Pretoria, driving a taxi over the weekend, working as a salesman in a sports shop and an exclusive men’s fashion store, distributing furniture store pamphlets, and acting in corporate videos and TV advertisements. He also holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of South Africa. Ivan is a Fellow of the tenth class of the Africa Leadership Initiative – South Africa and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network.
