Bio:
Muchiri Wahome is CEO of Deacons Kenya Ltd, the leading fashion chain store in the region with 18 outlets, 200 employees, and posting annual turnover in excess of $18 million, operating in Tanzania and Kenya. The company is celebrating its golden jubilee this year and expects to announce exciting plans for its customers and stakeholders later this year. Muchiri has also been a non-executive director of Scan Group since November 2005. This is the largest marketing agency in East and Central Africa with a 55% market share. He is also the chairman of the board of governors of Moi Equator Girls, Nanyuki; this is a three stream, 600 girls boarding secondary school, funded by the government. Muchiri was awarded the Head of State Commendation medal for implementing performance management contracts in government. He holds a diploma in advanced management from Strathmore Business School and a bachelor of arts in economics from the University of Nairobi (1987) Among a host of other activities, Muchiri enjoys golf, reading and hosting TV talk shows. He is a Fellow of the second class of the Africa Leadership Initiative-East Africa and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network.
