Bio:
For over a decade, Aidan has led Twaweza, an organization that helps build citizen agency to evaluate and implement change in their own governance. In Jan 2025 he announced that he would be leaving the organization to head up the Open Government Partnership organization. Aidan is founder and former director of Serengeti Advisers Limited of Dar es Salaam, a regional advisory firm with interests in economic policy, financial markets, international business, and emerging trends in information and communications technologies. He is also program director responsible for the East African Scenarios Project for the Society for International Development. The objective is to generate knowledge and to inform and sustain dialogue amongst key constituents on a set of possible alternative futures that the East African region might face in the coming decades. In addition to the East African scenarios project, Aidan has participated in national scenario-building projects in Kenya (2000), Tanzania (2003), South Africa (2004) and Nigeria (2007). He has a BS with honors in economics from Trent University, Ontario, and a master's degree in economics from Simon Fraser University in British Columbia, Canada. He is a Fellow of the second class of the Africa Leadership Initiative-East Africa and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network.
