Bio:
Nehemiah Mchechu is managing director and CEO of Commercial Bank of Africa Tanzania Limited. As the youngest CEO within the Banking sector in East Africa, he managed to turn around the business that was loss making since its inception in his first year of appointment and the bank has since been growing by more than 100% per year. He has also been instrumental in introducing new banking products in Tanzania. Before then, Nehemiah worked for Standard Chartered Bank Tanzania Limited for five years as an alternative director, head of global banking, and co-head of wholesale banking. He began his career as a junior banker at Citibank before joining Barclays Bank Tanzania Limited where he worked as the treasury markets dealer. In addition to his current role, Nehemiah also serves as the chairperson of University Of Dar Es Salaam Faculty Of Commerce Alumnae Association, a board chairman of Rightway Schools, a board member of the Tumaini University - Dar Es Salaam Campus, a board member of the Ardhi University Real Estate School, and a director and founding member of the CEO Roundtable. He is also a member of several other country task forces. He is a Fellow of the second class of the Africa Leadership Initiative-East Africa and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network.
