Walid El Hage is managing director of Permoid Industries, where he leads an industrial group of three factories specializing in the manufacture and supply of metal parts to major market players in the construction equipment industry. Since his appointment in 1999, Walid successfully completed a 5 year company-wide restructuring program aimed at streamlining production and changing the direction of the business to meet the new challenges facing European industry while turning the group into a profitable business that generates multi-million pounds sales annually. In 2008 Walid started a new technology company in the UK specializing in the conversion of diesel engines to dual fuel engines running on liquid propane gas and diesel. Walid's other activities are spread out in the Middle East and Asia where they range from real estate development in Lebanon to an advisory participation in Scaffco Scaffolding Company, a leading manufacturer and supplier of scaffolding systems in Abu Dhabi. Walid is graduated from Loughborough University, UK with an Honours degree in Civil Engineering and has earned a Masters Degree in Transport Engineering from Imperial College, UK. He is a Fellow of the inaugural class of the Middle East Leadership Initiative of The Aspen Institute and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network.
