Bio:
Fatimah Burnam-Watkins grew up in the Garden State and after holding numerous roles with Teach For America national in New York City and Philadelphia, she returned home to New Jersey in 2010 to begin her work as Executive Director of Teach For America - Greater Newark. As Executive Director, Burnam-Watkins is responsible for maximizing the organization's impact in Greater Newark by working to grow Teach For America's presence in the community, ensuring effectiveness of corps members, and building a sustainable base of financial support. Under her leadership the Greater Newark region has grown from a total teaching corps size of 85 to more than 200 today and most recently, it was announced that Teach For America will expand its presence across the entire state of New Jersey by becoming Teach For America - New Jersey with Burnam-Watkins leading the statewide region. In addition to her role as Executive Director, Burnam-Watkins serves on two Newark education boards: TEAM Academy Charter Schools and BRICK Avon Academy Schools. In her most important roles, Burnam-Watkins is a wife to her husband Jon and a mother to 5 year old triplets Bryce, Cole, and Corynne.
