Title and Organization:
April Chou is responsible for the expansion of new KIPP schools in the San Francisco Bay Area and oversees the operating functions that support the success of KIPP students and schools. She led the organization?s strategic shift toward personalized learning, to support KIPP?s mission of preparing students for success through college and life. Prior to joining KIPP Bay Area Schools, April was a Partner at NewSchools Venture Fund, where she was part of the leadership team responsible for investment strategy and management, grew the organization?s early convening efforts, and built the development operation to raise philanthropic capital for early-stage, entrepreneurial organizations in public education. She has also worked as a management consultant with McKinsey & Company in Beijing, San Francisco, and Washington, DC. April is the founding board chair of Students for Education Reform (SFER), a national nonprofit that is organizing college students for education policy change to close the achievement gap. She received her bachelor?s degree from Princeton University?s Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs, where she is an active volunteer, and has both an M.B.A. and Masters in Education from the dual degree program at Stanford University. April is a Fellow of the 12th class of the Pahara-Aspen Education Fellowship and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network.
