Bio:
Jane Frederick was the 2020 National President of The American Institute of Architects (AIA) representing over 95,000 domestic and international architects. She has served the profession throughout her career including AIA state leadership, national AIA board and committee service, team chair for the National Architectural Accreditation Board and chair of the Southern Conference of the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards. In 2012, she was awarded Fellowship in the AIA for her service to the profession and in 2023 she was the first woman to receive the AIA SC Medal of Distinction.
She has been a principal of Frederick + Frederick Architects in Beaufort, South Carolina since 1989. The small firm specializes in sustainable design for hot, humid climates. Jane and her husband, architect Michael Frederick have a book on sustainable design coming out in the fall of 2025.
Jane received her bachelor's degree in architecture from Auburn University. She is licensed to practice in South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia, and Florida. Her firm has received numerous design awards and has been featured in national publication including The Wall Street Journal. She is a Fellow of the inaugural class of the Liberty Fellowship Program and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network.
