Bio:
Joseph (Joe) M. Salley was CEO of Milliken & Company in Spartanburg, one of the largest privately-held companies in the U.S. He worked as research and development engineer, strategist, process manager, vice president, president, and COO at Milliken before being promoted to CEO. Jim serves on the board of directors of the University of South Carolina Research Foundation and is a former board member of The Citadel's "Star of the West" Scholarship, which he received as a student. Jim is also a former member of the Industrial Research Institute and the University of South Carolina Chemical Engineering Industrial Advisory Board. Jim graduated as valedictorian from The Citadel with a BS in chemistry before earning an MS and PhD in chemical engineering from Stanford University. He is a Fellow of the inaugural class of the Liberty Fellowship Program and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network.
