Bio:
Leighton Lord serves as Chairman of the regional law firm Nexsen Pruet and the Managing Director of Nexsen's communications and crisis management affiliate, NP Strategy, LLC which he founded. His practice includes economic development and business law. Leighton is Chairman of Santee Cooper, South Carolina's state-owned electric and water utility and the largest generator of electricity in South Carolina. He also is a member of the South Carolina Coordinating Council for Economic Development. Leighton serves as the Governor's appointee on the Bureau of Ocean and Energy Management Offshore Renewable Energy Task Force. Leighton is the former Chairman of the Board of Heathwood Hall Episcopal School and currently serves as Chairman of the School's Foundation. He is a Riley Institute Diversity Fellow and serves on the Board of Governors of the Palmetto Club. Leighton was educated at the University of Delaware and Vanderbilt Law School. He has written and speaks on conservation easements, energy planning and economic development. He is a Fellow of the third class of the Liberty Fellowship Program and a moderator for and member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network.
